winston and julia go to O’brien’s apartment separately. They learn that the inner party members are able to turn off their telescreens for up to half an hour at a time. O’brien seems paranoid and winston worries that he misunderstood what obrien meant when he asked him to come over, and doubts if he is actually with the resistance. O’brien turns off his telescreen and asks winston if he wants to say something, winston tells him that he and julia want to join the resistance. O’brien explains that his valet, martin, is one of them. Martin brings them wine and they toast to emmanuel goldstein. o’brien asks them a few difficult questions to see i they are really ready to overthrow the party and explains other rules of the brotherhood, after this julia leaves. Winston tells him of the room over the shop and O’brien tells him he will get a copy of goldstein’s book. Winston gets the copy of goldstein’s book. Winston realizes that the party has changed history again. They have been at war with Eurasia for years, but now its Eastasia, and always has been according to the party. After 6 days its impossible to prove that the party was ever at war with Eurasia. Winston goes to the secret room and reads goldstein’s book about how the party is structured and how it operates. The book ends with an unfinished sentence that reads, “this motive really consists”. winston feels like he knows the party’s “how” but not its “why”. He feels that the book didn’t really have any information on how to get out or overthrow the party.
Pg:120-130
Himmelstoss returns from the front lines and as soon as he gets back he tries making amends with all the men from the Second Company, he is very generous with his food towards other, and gives the men easier jobs, and apologizes to Tjaden. I think Himmelstoss was just horrified about what happened on the front lines and just doesn’t want to go back so he is being less harsh on everyone and treating them like humans

He then explains all the things Dracula can do and all the things he cannot do. He also explains group assets and Dracula’s assets. Van is interrupted by a bullet shattering the window. Morris explains he saw a huge bat by the window and took a shot. They suggest what to do to trap Dracula. Renfield wants to go home IMMEDIATELY. Van asks to explain why but Renfield says he cant. Seward tells him to go to bed but then Renfield says “I tried to warn you!”
One significant event is when Renfield tells them that he tried to warn them because that shows that something is going to happen to them or someone.

These pages focus on the after moments of Winston and Julias intimate night together. They all continue on with hate week. The songs of people singing in the streets and talking about the week. There is a certain part that is sort of shocking to Winston and Julia that causes them to look outside the window.
Shortly after Winston says ¨We are dead¨Julia follows up with repeating him. Then after both of them a big iron voice says ¨You are dead¨ They find out that they are being watched and pictures start to fall and the two take off out of the building
Dracula 232-244

Freeing her from her vampire state and committing to killing the count.
Gulliver’s Travels 161-167
Gulliver tells what the land of Balnibarbi is like. He does this while traveling with the governor of the land. He describes it as near desolate. The governor tells him that this is because of an academy that has over complicated everything. Gulliver goes to see what it is all about and observes many of the classrooms in the academy. One man is trying to make food out of human Excrement, another is a blind man teaching others to tell what color the paint is by touch and sound, a third is trying to produce sunlight from cucumbers.
I think that the most important part of my reading was the absurdity of the experiments. These men are over complicating such simple things to the point where they can’t even be completed.
The Metamorphosis pg. 85-90
This section takes place right after the climax of the book, right after Gregor’s father tried to kill him. It picks up about a month after the fight and Gregor has an apple lodged into part of his body. the rest of this section just talks about how the family is doing and how they are changing, drifting away from Gregor as they aren’t really taking care of him anymore, and is father enters an episode of depression. He won’t get up from his chair ever, and Gregor’s mother and sister are left to do all the work, and even get jobs.
The beginning of this section really emphasizes the apple stuck in Gregor, so it leads me to think that it will be problematic later on.
