Title- Dracula
pages- 7 to 28
Summary: In his first diary entry, on May 3, Harker describes the picturesque countryside of Eastern Europe and the exotic food he has tasted at the roadside inns. He notes several recipes that he plans to obtain for Mina. Harker arrives in the northern Romanian town of Bistritz and checks into a hotel Count Dracula has recommended to him. The innkeeper gives Harker a letter from the count. The letter welcomes Harker to the beautiful Carpathian Mountains and informs him that he should take the next day’s coach to the Borgo Pass, where a carriage will meet him to bring him the rest of the way to the castle.
The Stranger
Pages 3-19
The Main character named Meursault Receives a telegram stating that his mother has died with the date of the funeral. He shows up to the Nursing home that his mother was in and through hints in his actions and words shows the reader that he did not really pay much attention to his mother and made it look almost as if he just didn’t care about his mother or want anything to do with her. He basically zones out for the whole Wake as well as the procession and goes home and sleeps like nothing ever happened.
One significant event is that the main character says that he did not understand his mother well. This shows that he might not care or feel for people because he does not understand them.
1984
pages 1-12

Alex and his gang (Pete, Georgie, and Dim) sit at a bar and talk about what to do that night. They go into the streets and attack an old man coming back from the library. They mess with him before assaulting him, and then rip his books apart, ripping out his false teeth and take his clothes.
The drink at the bar (milk) is laced with stimulants which may contribute to what they did.
Title- Jane Eyre
Pages- 11- 33
Summary: Jane Eyre is miserable living with Mrs. Reed. She is treated differently than the other kids and wished she did not have to be there. Her and John got into a fight, because John was bullying Jane, and she was sent to the ¨Red Room¨. The servants and Mrs. Reed were talking about how misbehaved she was and they did not want her there. I think it is significant to know Jane is treated poorly in a situation she was forced into. She is blamed for something she did not do and it shows how Mrs. Reed views Jane and her feelings on her.
all quite on the western front, 19 pages, introducing the characters and the war, one significant thing is probably that they were embarrassed to do the general latrines, now they look at them as a luxury
Title: The picture of Dorian Gray
pages read: 3-30
Summary: The story begins with the conversation between Basil Hallward (the painter) and Lord Henry (a cynical man). The two men are talking about Dorian Gray and his wonderful beauty. Basil Hallward claims that Dorian led him to make his best work: the portrait of Dorian Gray. Lord Wotton is more and more intrigued and insists with his friend to meet Dorian Gray but the painter doesn’t want this to happen because he fears the bad influence of his friend on the young man; but their meeting is inevitable. Lord Wotton with his ideas about pleasure and beauty causes deep disturbance in Dorian.
Significant event: (page 26) Dorian is afraid of the idea of old age, thus he decides to “make a deal with the devil”: he hopes to be always young, and the picture to grow old.
