Alice and the party all caught up swimming in her pool of tears wanted to find a way to become dry. So, the Lory said they should do a cactus-race. They all began to run and ran for 30 minutes and they all became dry. They all won the race so the Lory said Alice must present prizes, so Alice dug in her pocket and handed out comfits to everyone. The mouse said Alice shall receive a prize as-well, so the Lory presented Alice her own thimble. Alice begins to ask the mouse again why he does not like cats and dogs, but the mouse gets angry and walks away. Alice begins telling stories about her cat, Dinah, but the rest of the party get offended and leaves also. Soon Alice hears footsteps in the distance again hoping it is the mouse. But is it really the mouse??
To be continued….
I think a significant event was the narrator leaving the suspense wondering if the footsteps are the mice or someone else.
Before Silas came to Raveloe, he lived in a town to the north, where he was thought of as a young man “of exemplary life and ardent faith.” This town was dominated by a strict religious sect that met in a place called Lantern Yard. During one prayer meeting, Silas became unconscious and rigid for more than an hour, an event that his fellow church members regarded as divinely inspired. However, Silas’s best friend at the time, William Dane—a seemingly equally devout but arrogant young man—suggested that Silas’s fit might have represented a visitation from the devil rather than from God. Troubled by this suggestion, Silas asked his fiancée, a young servant named Sarah, if she wished to call off their engagement. Though Sarah seemed at first to want to, she did not. 30-43

one significant event would be the very climatic ending to chapter 4. they are headed back to the base after laying barbed wire and they get attacked. they survive that and then they get attacked with bombs and have to hide in a graveyard. the recruit with them was injured and they were about to kill the recruit but soldiers emerge from their holes and the chapter ends.
